When it comes down to it, the majority of people are always assuming, and most of them assume the worst. Creditors or anyone today all base their theories on suppositions, and suppositions have forever caused failure. When people fail to pay their bills on time, many of the creditors suppose that the debtor doesn’t have the ability to pay the debt. Many creditors with the supposition that you are not capable of paying your bills will sometimes make arrangements or lower the amount so that you can repay the debt.

This is one possible step to credit repair, however in this case you must contact your creditor to let them know your situation. If you have several bills on hand and all the bills are pressing, it makes sense to payoff the debt that benefits you the most. After this bill is paid you can set aside an amount the following paycheck to payoff another of the bills. If you follow this strategy it allows you to work your bills down gradually therefor repairing your credit.

If you dont have the money to repay the bill in full, atleast pay the minimum so that you can continue using the service. Most debtors suppose they are in debt and there is nothing they can do to resolve the problems that ravage their lives day in and day out. Creditors are always on their back, and their paychecks are never enough to make ends meet. This is a process of giving up on life. When we give up it usually leads to stress. The answer is often right in front of them or comes to them sometime in the future. Sometimes we see Credit Counseling or Debt Consolidation advertisments and think, “how can they help me. The fact is Debt Consolidation is only a lead to get creditors off your back for a while. Credit Counselors are more likely to help you find a solution to repairing your credit.

Credit Counselors can be the solution when you can’t find a way out on your own. These professionals work with your creditors, and work toward a solution. This is absolutely a way to get creditors off your back, work out an arrangement with your debtors, and reduce the stress that comes with financial burdens. Some credit counseling services offer a low fee for their services and provide you with a financial managing solution. These services often offer help with managing your cash, as well as offering counseling to homeowners, students, and so forth. There are many solutions for debt relief so the key then is not assuming the worst. Again the important solution is paying off the debts that are the highest prioritie. If you have secured loans it is always smart to find a way to pay these bills before any others. Unsecured loans can pose a threat, but nothing compared to secured loans or debts. Some of the nonessential bills can include credit cards. Although you are responsible for this bill, the worst that happens with credit cards is that you loose your privileges.

Students are often neglected with regards to getting any credit benefits from various lending or credit sources who are otherwise ready to offer credit to businessmen and other working professionals. But the students of today are the next generation and are our future. So its important to encourage and support them with the best available financial and credit opportunities so they can grow in their own fields and provide the best output for our country.

As such, student credit cards provide one mechanism for young people to establish credit as well as provide a financial back stop for education and living expenses while attending school. The cost of living today continues to rise, and the amount of money needed to finance an education, particularly secondary education and college education, is outpacing the rate of inflation by a considerable amount. Many parents cannot bear the entire financial burden of the academic costs for their children. Student credit cards provided by a variety of different banks, lending institutions and credit card companies provide significant opportunities for students to establish and build a credit history at an early age. Provided, of course, that the credit card is used with care and caution.

Choosing a Student Credit Card

Before selecting a student credit card, or all types of credit cards for college students or young people for that matter, most suitable to your needs, you must first carefully read the fine print, otherwise known as the terms and conditions of the offer. As tedious as this might sound, it is very important to fully understand the terms of credit by which you will be bound. These include the applicable interest rates, exclusions, fees, restrictions, penalties as well as any bonus, reward or rebate offer stipulations that the card offer terms and conditions will outline. If you are unsure about any of the details or obligations, be sure to contact the card issuer directly for clarification.

All credit card applicants, especially student credit card applicants, absolutely must be mindful of the terms and conditions of any card offer before filling out and applying for a card offer.

Ideal Choices for Student Credit Cards

The best possible choice for a student is to find a card offer with the lowest available APR. Generally speaking, students are more of a credit risk for credit card issuers so they assign a higher ongoing rate of interest, or APR, on student credit cards to offset the increased risk of default by students. Several student credit card offers provide a 0% APR on purchases and cash advances for the first 6 months of card membership, providing some much needed financing that some students might require for books, school supplies, lab fees, etc. Be aware, however, that the interest rates on these offers jumps up significantly when the introductory offer ends. So be sure to have that card balance paid off by the end of the introductory term.

Appling for a student credit card is very simple and can easily be applied for online, making the prospect of researching and comparing various student credit cards pretty easy.

The use of credit cards by students is at an all time high, and each year more and more students and young people are signing up to use credit cards. The alarming increase in these numbers has generated a lot of concern from various sources about the easy availability of credit cards and the potential pitfalls of irresponsible credit card use. But there is significant benefit that student credit cards can offer, including the opportunity for young cardholders to learn how to manage and build credit.

An alarming percentage of students and young people are already more than $10,000 in credit card debt and to complicate things even further, many of these students have yet to start earning a stable income. Financial responsibility is something that has to be taught at home, but most parents do not have the time nor the patience required to adequately guide their children about the vagaries and responsibilities of using and managing credit wisely.

The cornerstone of proper personal financial planning is living well within your means. But peer pressure plays a major role in a student’s life and, for young people in particular, it is extremely difficult to ignore the latest trends. Easy access to student credit cards is part of the problem for students trying to establish and build credit, and it has become very difficult to avoid credit card offers that allow students to complete a “brief” application form and obtain a credit card in such a short amount of time.

But wise use of these credit cards can help those students who might otherwise struggle to pay their college fees and meet their day to day expenses as well as those who are just looking to get an early start on building their credit. Credit card issuers have recognized the market opportunity and have been offering increasingly competitive student credit card offers everyday.

Another distinct advantage of having a student credit card is that it helps in starting the process of building a good credit history. Starting to build credit early will go a long way for young people trying to establish a financial track record prior to that first car or first home purchase.

A highly recommended alternative of an unsecured student credit card is a debit or prepaid card with a credit limit. Money for purchases made on this card is just deducted from existing funds deposited in the student’s account and when the spending reaches the limit, the student simply is not allowed to make any more purchases.

Before you decide to get a student credit card, you should pay special attention to any fees, exclusions and restrictions that might limit the use of the card. Also, lookout for the rewards they are offering and then compare the overall costs that you have to bear. Also, don’t forget to check for balance transfer transaction fees, blackout dates on rewards offers or for any restrictions or limitations which will fall under the terms and conditions.

For credit card companies one of the largest groups of potential customers they chose to target each year is college students. Student credit cards offer young adults a way to cover expenses while attending school, something that is often easier said than done. By offering nave college students, who have little to no prior experience with credit cards, a way to pay their bills and cover other expenses, credit card companies often find a number of eager new customers. However, student credit cards often cause many students who have never experienced the process of managing their finances a quick fall into debt. Credit card debt can be a real and very extreme danger for students applying for their first credit card.

Many credit card companies find ways to appeal to young college students looking for financial help. Some offer low interest rate or 0 APR credit cards to college students with good credit. However, what some of the trickier credit card companies fail to mention to students, or include in fine print that is often overlooked, is that low rates or 0% APR is sometimes only offered for a short period of time, such as a year. Once the initial time period is up, rates will often increase to more standard rates which is sometimes unexpected and in some cases overlooked by customers. This can cause student credit card customers to become inundated with credit card debt.

Once credit card debt gets up to a certain point, payments can be huge; this is why it is important to keep credit card debt at a manageable rate. Once credit card debt gets too high, payments will also rise. If payments are missed, credit card interest will cause credit card debt to climb even if the credit card has not recently been used. Keeping on top of payments and not using the credit card to an extent to which you will have trouble making payments on time is the ideal way to stay free of credit card debt.

It is important for students to be aware of the dangers of credit card debt in order to avoid financial trouble. However, it is up to them to be informed and make smart financial decisions when it comes to student credit cards. If students are interested in applying for a credit card, the best way to go about it is to research credit card companies to find the best credit card and credit card rates available. Some student credit card deals are co0mpletely legitimate and can be a great way for students to manage their finances. If students are informed, make regular payments, and do not raise their credit card limits to absurd rates, they will most likely be able to manage their credit card with no problems.

Aside from all being precious metals; silver, gold and platinum also signify the difference between the various strata of credit cards available to cardholders. So, whats the difference between you having silver, gold and platinum credit cards?

Besides the kudos of having a metallic covered card in a stratum higher than the one below it, with silver being considered the lowest, gold next and platinum at the peak, these days there really is little difference between each of these cards. Two noticeable exceptions are:

Spending Limit

Although the cards are supposed to signify a higher credit limit and spending power, in fact what they do is act as a signal as to you supposed income. This is because as you go up in the line of colors, so (supposedly) should your income and thus your spending limit. The only problem with this is that while the platinum card used to be an invite only card, these days the qualifying salaries for each of these cards are set so close together that you do not really need to earning that much in order to qualify for a platinum card!

Membership Fees

These days the amount you need to pay in annual membership fees to card providers is the biggest difference between these types of credit cards. In part due to kudos element, card issuer feel at liberty to charge cardholders of platinum cards far more than they do to those who hold silver cards, which may, indeed, even be free of a membership fee!

So, while your spending limit may not be that significantly higher having a platinum card rather than a silver card, your membership fee almost certain will. The decision that you have to make, assuming you qualify, is whether you are willing to pay that extra amount in membership fees to have a higher ranking card. And by adopting a policy of silver, gold and platinum credit cards, the issuers are banking on you doing wanting just that!

Self Help May Be Best When It Comes To Credit Repair

You see the advertisements in newspapers, on TV, and on the Internet. You hear them on the radio. You get fliers in the mail. You may even get calls from telemarketers offering credit repair services. They all make the same claims:

Credit problems? No problem!

We can erase your bad credit 100% guaranteed.

Create a new credit identity legally.

We can remove bankruptcies, judgments, liens, and bad loans from your credit file forever!

Do yourself a favor and save some money, too. Dont believe these statements. Only time, a conscious effort, and a personal debt repayment plan will improve your credit report.

This article explains how you can improve your creditworthiness and gives legitimate resources for low or no-cost help.

The Scam

Everyday, there are companies nationwide that appeal to consumers with poor credit histories. They promise, for a fee, to clean up your credit report so you can get a car loan, a home mortgage, insurance, or even a job. The truth is, they cant deliver. After you pay them hundreds or thousands of dollars in fees, these companies do nothing to improve your credit report; most simply vanish with your money.

The Warning Signs

If you decide to respond to a credit repair offer, look for these tell-tale signs of a scam:

companies that want you to pay for credit repair services before they provide any services.

companies that do not tell you your legal rights and what you can do for yourself for free.

companies that recommend that you not contact a credit reporting company directly.

companies that suggest that you try to invent a new credit identity and then, a new credit report by applying for an Employer Identification Number to use instead of your Social Security number.

companies that advise you to dispute all information in your credit report or take any action that seems illegal, like creating a new credit identity. If you follow illegal advice and commit fraud, you may be subject to prosecution.

You could be charged and prosecuted for mail or wire fraud if you use the mail or telephone to apply for credit and provide false information. Its a federal crime to lie on a loan or credit application, to misrepresent your Social Security number, and to obtain an Employer Identification Number from the Internal Revenue Service under false pretenses.

Under the Credit Repair Organizations Act, credit repair companies cannot require you to pay until they have completed the services they have promised.

The Truth

No one can legally remove accurate and timely negative information from a credit report. The law allows you to ask for an investigation of information in your file that you dispute as inaccurate or incomplete. There is no charge for this. Everything a credit repair clinic can do for you legally, you can do for yourself at little or no cost. According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA):

Youre entitled to a free report if a company takes adverse action against you, like denying your application for credit, insurance, or employment, and you ask for your report within 60 days of receiving notice of the action. The notice will give you the name, address, and phone number of the consumer reporting company. Youre also entitled to one free report a year if youre unemployed and plan to look for a job within 60 days; if youre on welfare; or if your report is inaccurate because of fraud, including identity theft.

Each of the nationwide consumer reporting companies Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion is required to provide you with a free copy of your credit report, at your request, once every 12 months.

It takes time to re-establish your good credit. Dont believe the claims of a quick solution. Use the system, follow the rules, pay your bills on time, check your credit report, and you will get yourself back on track.

The Smile credit card was in 2005 awarded the accolade of being the best credit card at the Guardian Consumer Finance Awards, quite an achievement but when you consider it is the four year in a row that it has done so, speaks volumes of what type of credit card you will be buying into, if you feel that this is the right credit card for you.

Launched by the Co-operative bank the smile credit card will also give you a better rate of APR on your card if you already bank with the company, so rewarding existing customers is high on the agenda. For example the standard APR for new customers is a competitive 12.8%(variable) a great rate, but if you are already banking with the company, you could see almost 3% cut from this APR, which will give you an annual APR of 9.9%(typical/variable) and add to that 0.5% cash back.

Here are some crackers.

Typical APR of 12.8% (variable) for new customers.

Typical APR of 9.9% (variable) for existing customers.

Cash back of 0.5%.

First class customer service.

Online account management.

Ethical Policy.

90 day free trial on card protection.

Smile! you will if you apply for this credit card and you will have a grin that you will find hard to wipe from your face, if you are a current customer or decide to bank with the Co-Op as well by having a current account. At last a credit card and bank that will reward custom.

A very common question you hear asked these days is which is the better, cash back or rewards credit cards loyalty schemes. The following is a brief explanation of the cash back vs. rewards credit cards loyalty schemes argument:

Cash Back Credit Cards

As their name suggests, cash back credit cards offer customers the chance to reclaim a certain percentage of their credit card expenditure in the form of a cash back payment. This payment can be made either as a credit on the balance of the customers credit card statement or in the form of actual cash being paid to the customer.

In most cases, the cash back being offered is in return for purchasing certain brand-named products or for using the card in particular stores. Thus, while it is true that you are getting a percentage of your purchase price back as a cash back reward, the bigger question you should be asking yourself if whether or not you would have purchased the product in that shop had you not been offered the cash back!

Rewards

By far the more popular credit card loyalty scheme is the rewards program. Here, a card provider will offer a certain number of rewards points per threshold amounts spent using the card. This way, the more you spend on the card, the more rewards you receive. Within a specified deadline date, you then need to exchange the points that you have accrued for a reward.

The reward can be in the form of air miles, household products, or any one of the other rewards usually set out in a catalogue sent to the card providers customers. The major difference between the rewards loyalty scheme and the cash back loyalty scheme is that the rewards scheme usually works on the amount you spend, not the product you buy.

Advantages of the Reward Schemes

A credit card with a fruitful reward scheme is more common, and often more valuable, than the cash back scheme because the affiliated credit card company makes a certain amount of profit from its goods. Think about it, if you spend $100 in store how much did these goods actually cost the company? The profit that they make can e offered with the reward scheme of the credit card, keeping customers happy. If they only offered cash back then this may be at 50% of the reward rate.

Therefore if you can choose a reward credit card that you can use, i.e. a store where you regularly shop then the best choice in this debate must be the reward credit card scheme.

Regardless of what your personal feelings are towards the cash back vs. rewards credit cards loyalty schemes, if you are applying for a credit card today then it is most definitely in your best interests to ensure that you are offered one or other of the two loyalty schemes as to do otherwise could mean you missing out on a golden opportunity to have your credit card giving you something for a change!

If you are a current credit card holder MasterCard or Visa — you may be overlooking an important way to make your card work even better for you: by joining a rewards program. Why possess a plain old credit card when you get rewarded for using the same card? Lets take a look at how you can receive benefits from your current card.

Some cards are offering rewards based on your purchases. Depending on the card selected, your rewards card can offer to you a variety of benefits such as:

1.Cash back. Receive 1% or 2% back on all purchases. Usually not redeemable for cash until your balance reaches a certain amount, such as $20. Some card plans allow for you to use the cash back as a credit toward future balances and/or purchases.

2.Airline miles. Some cards have tie ins to one particular airline while other cards allow for you to accrue miles that can be used for mostly any carrier. Similar plans include cards that allow you to accumulate free stays at select hotel chains.

3.Car purchase. One prominent automaker allows for card holders to receive as much as 5% credit toward a future purchase of a new vehicle one of their models, of course! Add these credits to other discounts offered by the automaker at the time of your next purchase and your savings can be huge.

Rewards cards offers do vary between card issuers and your offer can be changed or amended at any time [usually in writing with prior notice given]. In addition, your points may expire after a certain period of time.

If you do not pay off your credit card balances monthly, you lose the advantage of accumulating points as your APR will be greater than the points accumulated.

So, why hold onto a do nothing credit card when you can make the one you have work for you? Call your credit card provider today and request that your current card be upgraded immediately.
